Emotions and Digestive Problems

Having a Blissed Mind Involves Having a Healthy Body

When you are stressed or suffering with your emotions, it also affects your physical body. We know that when you are under a lot of stress it can lower your immune systems. This is pretty public widespread knowledge, but it has numerous affects on your body not just your immune system.

At the same time, if you are physically poor, it also makes it harder to come to a Blissed Mind as well.

What Is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is literally translated as ‘the Science of Life’, with ‘ayus’ meaning life or life-span and ‘veda’ meaning knowledge.

This ancient Indian science is very much a modern healing modality throughout the world, and is, in fact, a recognized medical science in countries like India and Switzerland. Although helpful even after a disease or imbalance has been diagnosed, Ayurveda also helps prevent illness and promote wellbeing through proactive diet and lifestyle practices.

Back to Emotions and Digestive Problems

This is just a little bit of what they say on their website about Digestive Problems:

“And while it’s important to eat healthy for our body’s needs, the food we eat isn’t the only possible cause of our digestive challenges.

Stress and our emotions can also have a subtle but deep effect on the patterns that form in our digestion and health. If these deeper patterns aren’t addressed, we face a constant struggle to manage our health with food alone.”

About The Author

(From The Ayurveda Experience website) Dr. Siva began her path to healing in neuroscience, and this sparked her interest in the mind-body connection. In Medical School and during her Public Health Masters, she focused her studies on an extension of the mind-body relationship: the effects of community, development, and culture on health behavior.

For Dr. Mohan, consulting in international public health seemed to revolve around a central question: How do we encourage certain health behavior in different settings around the world?

Several years later, Siva shares the wisdom of Ayurveda in a supportive, individualized and holistic way.

With an M.D. (focus in psychiatry) and a Masters in Public Health, Siva brings a unique and integrative approach to Ayurveda. This combined with her personal and professional studies in Vedic thought have nurtured her niche: expanding Ayurveda with psychospiritual healing.

Siva teaches at festivals and conferences (e.g. Bhaktifest, Bali Spirit, Moksha, Assn. of Ayurvedic Physicians); develops curriculum and teaches for YogaWorks; and teaches at the nation’s premier Yoga Studies Masters Program at Loyola Marymount University in LA. Siva is the founder/director of LA’s celebration of the Vedic arts, Veda MeLA.

Dr. Mohan’s perspectives have been recently featured in Marie Claire, Well + Good, LAYoga, Real Simple, First for Women magazines, amongst others. Her private practice has been featured on KCLA TV, Veria TV, and she is a featured expert on several online wellness portals (LivingHealthy, BanyanBotanicals, Curejoy, Ayurvedanextdoor, Mom.me, Bodhi Tree).

  1. Our emotions can dictate a lot of what happens to us. I always believe it’s necessary to keep a handle on how we deal with our emotions, to prevent our emotions from dictating our life.

Would be nice to know how my emotions affect my digestive system, looking forward to learning about it. I’ve noticed I don’t fall ill when I’m positive and happy. Just my thoughts though.

    • Every organ is connected one way or another. If our breathing is short fast breaths, our heart will be beating faster etc, and everything affects the other. I know when I used to get upset that’s when my stomach acid reflux problems would be worst. I still got scarring on my throat from it, and I haven’t had a problem with it in awhile. And I’m sure you have heard how stress can cause ulcers and ulcers affect digestion. It’s amazing how our mental health affects us in so many ways. Thank you for your comment, and I’m sure your thoughts are correct. May you be Blissfully Blessed.

  2. Hey Sara,

I liked the program, and I’m planing to consider it. But before I do so, I would like to ask one quick question.

In case if I’m not happy with it, is it possible for me to get a full-refund?

Thank you for answering my question. Keep up the good work Sara!

  3. It’s true that emotions affect our digestion. I had a fairly rough day yesterday. It wasn’t so rough, but I had a milestone marked in my business yesterday.

I got my first pay check from my online business, but while I waited with bathed breath, I put myself under intense pressure, thinking up all VLF negative scenarios that could come up.

After such a mental torment, I woke up with a slight indigestion. That must be because of the worry I put myself through yesterday.

    • No doubt. I highly recomment Power Of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Sounds like you could use some practice in the now and not worry about the future. I actually have several posts regarding the same thing. I admit, I slip up every now and then myself. A lot less frequently than I did in the past though. I am in no way 100 percent blissed yet, but I’m pretty close I would say 90 percent. Every day I strive to get to the point where I’m 100 percent tho and some days I am 🙂 Best thing about not being perfect, is it inspires you to keep trying to be perfect. No one is perfect so therfore you continue to strive.

I hope you got your check, and it was as much as you were expecting. Hope to see you around. Be Blissfully Blessed and may you have the abundance you need.
