How Long Can We Live Without Water?

Does not sound like a typical question for Blissed Mind does it? When coming onto my site you are expecting words to uplift you or move you in a positive direction. You aren’t expecting me to post something that could make you feel uncomfortable or to have to think about something you may just rather not think about it.

However, the purpose of this site isn’t to teach you how to forget about everything going on in the world. Instead, its to show you how to remain blissed with everything going on in the world. So, today I’m going to show you some Good, Bad, and Ugly and walk you through how to handle it.

How Long Can We Live Without Water?

There’s no reliable predictor of how fast dehydration would kill a person. Many survival blogs suggest that an average person can survive for somewhere from two days to a week without liquids, but that’s a rough estimate at best. A person’s health, the weather and the individual’s physical activity levels all help determine how long a person will last without water. Older people, children, individuals with chronic diseases, and people who work or exercise outside are at particular risk of dehydration, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Now imagine being born into the situation, and this situation was all you known your entire life. This situation was all that was known for generations. You will be born with a helpless feeling. Imagine being in the middle of no where no electricity, no communication with the outside world, and you had to survive this. Could you? You would almost be better off all alone, but instead your sharing what little you have with the whole community. Most of us can’t even imagine this situation.

Universal Abundance

In previous post, I’ve introduced who you really are. The one who perceives your thinking, the one who perceives your senses. You are not your mind, your mind belongs to you. When you realize there’s an underlying perceiver, you realize you are part of the creator and the creator is part of you. You realize, you are consciousness or awareness whatever you want to call it. When you realize everything in the universe is connected, and even beyond that the entire cosmos, then you should realize also there’s unlimited abundance.

Maybe, you are even struggling now but once you let go of how you perceived situations in the past, you can let go of that Karma too. Once we give what we got, the universe and grace opens the flow for us to receive. Right now I don’t have a whole lot but I have a home, my basic necessities, my life, my family and for that I’m grateful. Remember, I’m also taking this the journey with you as I build this website to spread the love and prosperity.

Today, I am practicing what Deepak Chopra teaches giving and opening the flow of abundance. That is why I am sharing this with you today. With your help, I would like to see 663,000 people who don’t have clean water receive the clean water they so need. Water the basis of life and consciousness itself, it should be a basic right for humanity. We can make it happen. Right now I have the goal set for $1,000 (this will provide 33 people with clean drinkable water). If successful once this campaign is over, I will do an even bigger campaign. So will you help me make this happen?

Enlightenment Can Happen to Anyone at Anytime

Twelve years ago, former nightclub promoter Scott Harrison set out to solve the water crisis in his lifetime.

Today, more than one million people have made it their mission too. This is the video about how he woke up one day and realized he was not doing anything beneficial with his life. When he woke up and realized there was so much more he can do with himself. This video which fell into my lap after networking with some very beautiful people who are all helping each other succeed showed up in my life last night.

After watching that video, I watched several others with this organization and I have spent quite a few minutes crying. A real cry from the pit of my stomach. A realization even further of what have I been worried about all my life?. An appreciation for what I do have, a sadness for the people going through this, happiness for a person doing so much to help humanity, and I cried from a boundless love that I have found within myself over the last few days.

Through all that crying however, I felt the most incredible feeling of blissness I ever felt in my life. A spark, a desire, a you know what we can do this feeling. If you want to see someone tell their story of Enlightenment, he can tell it so much better than I can. He doesn’t call it that in this video, but it is what it is. Please watch this video above, if you have not done so already.

Being Blissful Does Not Require To Turn Off Your Emotions

I have never said don’t think. I have said, “don’t be addicted to thinking“. Don’t let your mind control you. Emotions are another dimension of our mind that goes hand in hand with thinking. We were created with emotions for a reason. If we had no emotion then what would drive us to do anything? Again, don’t let your emotions control you. As I said, even, in the mist of crying I felt total blissfulness. Find out what your emotions are telling you. Find out if there is something you can do to fix the problem. On the other hand, ask yourself if your emotions are in the present moment or wrapped up in some past thought that does not exist anymore. These are the ways to be blissful even through bleak, depressing, upsetting etc situations.

A Call To Action

You could be moved to give to open up your own flow of Abundance. You can be moved to give to help fix some of the suffering in this world. You may not even know why you are moved to give. It does not matter why you do. Even if you can’t do it you can share this post and maybe someone who can will. So you can do something.

No matter why or what you do, it does not matter. Even doing the right thing for the wrong reasons still is the right thing to do, no one can change that. Sadhguru learned yoga because of an older gentleman being able to climb out of a well faster than he could when he was a youth. He admits it was the wrong reason to learn yoga, but look at him now. It was the right thing to do even though it was the wrong reason.

So I’m asking you, even if you can not give please share this post. Thank you and may you be blessfully blissed.

  1. So often we are so consumed in our own hardships that we forget that there are people in the world that are so worse off than us. This post was an eye opener. We should all do our part and try to give a little or encourage others to give a little to help the crisis at hand.
So many people, young children and old are dying because they don’t have clean water to drink. It’s sad to think about and even say out loud, but it is true.
Thanks so much for sharing this and opening my eyes.
I don’t have much, I am an unemployed wife of three kids and struggling to keep my head about water, but I still want to help.
This is such a great cause.

    • Thank you much for your contribution, it means so much to me and I know it will mean so much more to those receiving it <3 May you be blissfully blessed!

  2. Thank you very much for your great article 🙂

Yes, it’s really nice to help others get clean water. This I really want to support in the best possible way by spreading the word.

I cry too then think about this. Hope so many people as possible will supporte this good cause. 🙂

  3. This site is doing good work to bring awareness to a real problem. A lot of people underestimate how dangerous dehydration is and this site sheds light on how easy it is to lose your body water, as well as areas of the world where the lack of water causes illness.

    • Yes, a lot of people in the world 663,000 wake up suffering from this problem every day. Thank you for your comment. May you be blissed and blessed.

  4. I take my hat off to you.  This is a super noble cause that talks bounds and leaps about you, about what you are about and just for that I will follow and support you.

We are so focused on our own needs all the time, taking everything we have for granted day after day.  I mean who would have thought that water was something we needed to worry about. yet, many people on this planet can’t get potable clean water to drink.

Sad that we live in these times, but happy that there is people like you.

    • Thank you so much for your kinds words and everything, my heart is lit up in gratitude. I knew there were situations like that, which are beyond imaginable. If you think about even the homeless in this country (United States) can wander in a McDonalds or a park and get drinking water. But, these people have no choice. That is really sad, and its said that humanity hasn’t evolved more than that at this point. However, I have hope for our evolving and I hope in my lifetime I will see some major changes. Thank you again so much!

  5. Thanks for this article with 4th he truth which has made me realize that helping other people is an important part of living a good life. Looking for ways to help others doesn’t just have a positive impact on the people you’re helping, it’s good for everyone. We should want to help otherssucceed in life because that, in turn, helps ourselves. Thanks for sending a powerful word out there.

    • And thank you for your beautiful comment. Helping others is like the butterfly effect. If you haven’t heard of that, it is a theory that when a butterfly flaps its wings in one location, eventually it makes it’s way as wind across the world. I don’t know if its true or not, but I can see how it would. Thank you again for your kind words. Be blissfully blessed

  6. I absolutely love what I read in this insightful article because it is full of great information. This is fascinating and interesting to me. This get me moved whenever I saw human being living and suffering, this post is a call to action and awareness to end dehydration and lack of clean water. Sharing of this post could be an advantage for people affected to be noticed. Thanks for this innovative idea. Best regards

    • Thank you for your kind words. It is my hope that this gets more awareness and more help to them. The gentleman who started this foundation started of with about 2 billion people needing help now he’s down to 866,000 I think it is without looking back at my notes. Significant drop but still way too many people. We can’t even think in numbers that high. May you be Blissfully Blessed.

  7. Growing up in the United States clean drinkable water was always an afterthought for me. I never really even heard of a serious issue with drinking water until the Flint Water Crisis took place over the past few years.

But once I was made aware of it I started to realize how many really cool inventions there are out there that are trying to make life easier for other people to get clean drinkable water more easily. One of the best I’ve seen is the Hippo Roller which is being widely distributed in Africa. You can check it out at the HippoRoller website!

That being said I think it is of huge importance for those of us that can take clean water for granted to give and help others achieve that same situation in the future. I hope that your campaign is a huge success and the next one an even bigger success!

    • Yes, I live in Michigan and Flint was extremely horrible. It’s refreshing to have someone comment that is so knowledgeable the Hippo Roller sounds awesome I will check it out in the morning. Its midnight here and I’m still working LOL. Thank you for your knowledgeable comment and your wishes. May you be blissfully blessed!

  8. Many thanks for this informative and heart-touching piece. Based on science, one cannot survive beyond three days without water. Someone said, let me paraphrase, a life lived for himself is of little value, but a life lived for others is of eternal value. Water is life, it is very important to live, and thanks once again for bringing to everyone’s attention the essences of water and the people giving out of their resources to make accessible to all.

    • Thank you for your kind words, and you are absolutely correct. Without water there would be no anything on this planet. I wish for you to be blissfully blessed.

  9. This article is really touching and an eye opener to the fact that our current situation is the wish of others. There sure many people dying everyday due to poor drinking water and lack of clean hygienic water. If we show care enough for this people and provide for them good water then we would save more lives and make world a better place to live. This is great mandate upon every well to do persons to support this cause. Thanks for sharing this article.

    • Thank you for your beautiful words. They are found with much gratitude in my heart. May you be blissfully blessed.

  10. This is the most touching blog post that I have read today and the most inspiring. Sometimes, we get carried away with what we think our own problems are and we forget that there are people who lack the basic things of life which we take for granted. I’m sure your generous mind will go a long way to provide the much needed relief that these communities need. I’m sharing right away and wish you many many success.

    • Thank you Vapz, your share is so much appreciated. Any motion is forward motion and anything we can do is doing something. Thank you so much you have my gratitude. Blissed Blessings Always

  11. I will like to commend you for taking out time to write this great article, about How Long Can We Live Without Water? It really true that dehydration is gradual killer but will like to add that dehydration is really a risk for the aged because, seen that  total body water decreases with age, aging kidneys are less able to concentrate urine, and the sensation of thirst decreases.

    • I’m not sure I would call it a gradual killer. One can die pretty quickly without water depending on the temperature and conditions. It depends on what the person has eaten, how much water is stored in the body to begin with etc. Yes dehydration is more of a risk for the age and children as the kidneys and other parts of endocrine system works at a different pace.

But, in the case of the people suffering with contaminated water like those shown in the video who are suffering without clean water, dehydration and death is way more faster. In those contaminated waters you have intestinal parasites, bacterias, and many other things that can cause illness and sickenss. Intestinal parasites literally can the food and water out of your intestines and other organs. The bacterias can cause severe vomoting and diarhea which will speed up dehydration in just hours.

I once got sick of a bacteria once that had me so sick if I didn’t go the hospital. I would have died of dehydration in just a few hours. That was from meat that was recalled, but it wasn’t recalled until myself and a few others got reported sick off of it. So imagine purposely drinking water to survive that you know may cause your death. It is totally unimaginable.

  12. I’ve also heard that people can survive around 40 days without food and a week without water. Your article somehow make me thankful for what I have now. Despite many struggles in my life, I can still enjoy enough food and drink clear water. Your clear water campaign sounds great. I will tell other friends to see if they also interested to join the charity. Thanks

    • Tahnk you for the comment and willing to share to others much appreciated. May you be blissfully blessed.

  13. I loved this article.  Water is so crucial to existence, but yet so many people live with filthy water that kills their children.  It’s horrific.  I was watching one of my religious channels, and the people were travelling to Africa and other parts of the world on a “water mission.”  They said it was absolutely amazing how the whole culture of a village changed when they were able to come in and drill wells for the people.  They no longer had to travel so far to get water, and of course, their health drastically improved.  They could grow food more easily, and just everything changed.  I don’t think I’ll be going to Africa anytime soon, but I sure do enjoy supporting these causes.

    • So, very true. It is amazing at what people typically stress about, and when you see true disaster in the world it makes you wonder why are we so busy complaining in our daily lives. If you have a roof, food, clean water, and some clothes you have everything you need. These people not just Africa several other places in the world as well, they don’t have any of the basic necessities. Yet, as soon as the water is turned on they find the energy to dance. Anyway, we can make other human beings have bliss in their life then that should be what we shall try to do. Thank you for your beautiful and thoughtful comment. May you be blissfully blessed.

  14. Hi! After reading your post I feel so grateful. Yes, we enjoy many of the benefits most among the world have never experimented in first person. We usually take for granted the fact that we continually have access to clean drinking water. But reading what you have mentioned that commonly a person between 2 to 7 days would die if not consuming water. And that’s a pretty short period of time.

    • Yes, and it is even shorter if that person has intestinal parasites or bacterias cause vomiting and diarhea. I had food poisoning once from some recalled beef from Kroger’s years ago. They did the recall after people got sick of course, and if I was any later going to the hospital I wouldn’t have made it from dehydration. Wasn’t because I didn’t have water I couldn’t keep it down.

So the people drinking contaminated water, with no or very little doctors to give them water through the veins. Can die really quickly, then you have more contaminations for unsanity bodies. Even though the videos are hard to watch, they are still not showing the worst cases that go on there. I don’t think many people could handle it.

Thanks for your comment and kindness. Be Blissfully Blessed.

  15. Hello Sarah,

Thank you so much for writing such an interesting and insightful article. I have reconsidered so many things after reading this, I learned so much and now I have plenty more to read and learn in your website. Your website raises awareness about a very concerning issue, which is very important and necessary to do.

I will try to help and spread the message and make a change actively.

    • Thank you Mariana. I am thrilled you are spreading the message. My gratitude goes to you. Be Blissfully Blessed 🙂

  16. Great Article Sara. I personally never knew you could only go a few days without water until my best friend went on the Discovery show Naked and Afraid. That’s when I realized the importance and how you can go much longer without eating than without drinking water. It’s very scary in other parts of the world.
