What is the Meaning of Grace?

Grace has different meanings depending on the culture and religion. We will look at the general meaning of Grace, and then take a little closer look at it on a consciousness level.

What Is The Definition of Grace?

According to Merriam Webster grace is:

a: unmerited divine assistance given to humans for their regeneration or sanctification

b: a virtue coming from God

c: a state of sanctification enjoyed through divine assistance

That is the first definition they gave, so we are going to go with that. If, you would like to see the many other definitions you see them by going to Merriam Webster’s website.

What is the Grace of the Universe?

I would explain it like this: When you look at consciousness and realize we are all part of consciousness including the entire universe, then grace is a force from consciousness that makes some aspect of your life more blissful or less difficult. Grace is a gift rather you feel it is from God, the universe, consciousness or whatever. The more grace you receive the easier life is on you.

How to Receive Grace?

In order to receive grace, you must let it work for you. You must allow it to enter your life. Acknowledge its existence, and there is something greater at work that you might not understand. That something may be taking care of things better than what you could have.

By trying to force certain things to work and not letting go of the control, you are putting up a block on grace from happening.

If, you do not see grace when it is happening, and do not allow yourself to have gratitude over even the smallest amount grace. Grace will not be offered to you as often. For example, say you say a coin laying on the street. It is just sitting there its only a penny or a nickel, something small. Do you feel like you are wasting your time picking it up? Is it too insignificant to you to bend over, pick it up, and put it in your pocket? If, you think yes, then why would the universe give you something bigger? If, you give a child a dollar bill and that child says to you, I don’t want a dollar I want ten dollars. You would think that child is being selfish and you wouldn’t give that child anymore money would you? Then why do you think Grace would be any different? Pick up the coin, smile, say thank you. You were given grace see it as it grace appreciate the grace, then more grace will be sent to you.

How to Invite Grace

A lot of people think by praying for something, they are inviting grace to happen. Although, praying of course doesn’t hurt especially if you are praying in thanks to the universe. There are few ways of inviting Grace to be abundant in your life

The first way, is to give grace and be grace. By showing other people grace and doing for others the best you can (without being taken advantage of). You are more likely to generate and receive grace for yourself. You can not expect to receive grace if you are not prepared to give it.

Another way of receiving grace is just to be thankful. Another word for this is Gratitude. Be grateful for everything you have, from the food you eat, to your shelter, to even your materialistic things that you have. Anytime, you use, eat it, drink it, live it, or whatever be thankful it is there for you to use. You may think you received all of these things because you worked hard for it. Which did help, you have to do action to produce results. However, certain opportunity has to be present for any of it to work. Let us use your job for instance, would you have a job if the grace wasn’t there for an opening when you applied or for the boss to actually hire you. If, you work for yourself, then either your customers, clients or something in your life are your grace. Without them, you would not be successful.

Lastly, learn how to be aware. Look for subtle signs from the universe. Be consciously aware of as much as you can on your breathing, what you are doing, what you are saying, what you are eating etc. The majority of people are only consciously aware 1% of their day. Think about how often you do things out of habit or schedule or just going through the daily motions. The more we consciously aware the less life is just an accident. The more grace can show up and be acknowledged.

How to Extend Grace to Others

You don’t have to have money to give grace. Life isn’t just about money although we get wrapped into it in our daily lives. Sometimes, just a smile or listening to someone who needs to talk is enough grace. The dying act of opening a door for someone or jumping and helping someone in a small moment of need that’s grace.

Less and fewer people are receiving grace, because fewer people are giving grace. It’s a two-way street in the Universe. Sure there are moments of kindness, but they are getting so few when it happens it becomes huge Facebook news in your news feed. If it was consistent and happened all the time then an instance wouldn’t seem so heroic.

We are all divine. The divine consciousness is in us. We need to start practicing our divinity and show the light from within. Light attracts Light. Let’s shine the world people. Let’s do it. Until next time, be blissfully blessed and remember to bless others and thank grace for allowing you to.

  1. I absolutely love what I read in this insightful article because it is full of great information. This is fascinating and interesting to me.

You have done a great job by this article. Grace is not common among men, but your article gives more explanation about receiving it and how it works. Even Christ told yahoo grace is sufficient for us, but only those who walk in his part can have access to it. Grace pass grace.

This is an awesome post. I will check back to read more

    • Thank you Whitedove, Yes we over look grace a lot and by over looking we deflect obtaining more. Especially, in this day of time where most people take a lot of things for granted. I’ve had some rough moments in my life including survival in woods with wild mushrooms to eat. LOL Persons who haven’t gone through actual survival rarely see how much comfort they do have. It takes experiencing it sometimes to see what Grace. One day I had hiked all along the woods and didn’t find a single thing no knew herbs growing, no mushrooms, but I kept the faith as I was walking back to our 5th wheel. I never gave up. Then I spotted what I at first thought was a white bucket, as I got closer I realized it was a foot tall mushroom and a foot wide. I believe it was called an Imperial Mushroom something like that, There were actually two smaller ones too. So I took the smallest one went back to the camper looked at my mushroom book I had downloaded at one time when I had internet access, and discovered those bad boys were edible! So I went and picked the biggest but left one. Sliced in up in hamburger size and fried them on a skillet on a camper stove. It was incredibly awesome. I told that story simply because I did not give up in my heart knowing I will be taken care of, and I was. That was grace in the utmost way. Not sure why I shared all of that with you, but for some reason I feel you understand what I’m saying. Thank you so much for your comment. Sorry your replay was so long.

  2. Hi, indeed Grace is what’s keeping us from meeting our creator, we are living by grace. One thing I don’t really know is how to extend Grace to people, I’ve never heard Grace could extended not until I read this article. Thanks for the enlightenment. I’ve really learnt something new today.

    • Any act of kindness from our heart without any intention of getting something back in return is extending Grace. I am glad you have found enlightenment in this post, and see it in a broader perspective. May you be blissfully blessed.

  3. Thank you Sara for sharing your article about grace.

Honestly,  I feel blessed for reading it.

I believe that grace is a blessing coming from a higher power, from God. All the blessings we receive are due to the grace of God. I also believe that because of His love, He gave us this grace to live happy and abundant.

Thanks again for your post. All the best!

    • Thank you for your kind words, they are held with utmost gratitude. May you be blissfully blessed.

  4. While I am a Christian and believe in a higher power, God, grace is definitely in play.  God’s grace is abundant in everything we do and if we do not learn to see the blessings of His grace and be grateful for it, we could lose out on so many other blessings.

I am so thankful for grace in my every day life, even when in certain moments it can feel like a loss of control.  Example – when running late or being unable to find something, it can actually be God’s grace in keeping me out of harms way or putting in the path of something better/greater or helping me discover something I would have otherwise not discovered.  A heart of gratitude can definitely bring some of those things into perspective.

Thank you for sharing this message and for the different perspectives on grace and what that looks like in our every day lives – big and small.  đŸ™‚

    • Thank you so much for your kinds, I am grateful you have found benefit for the post. May you be blessed with an abundance of grace in your life.

  6. What’s really interesting about this to me is that I was raised Catholic and spend the first 9 years of my schooling in a Catholic school, yet I can’t remember anyone ever talking about the meaning of the word “grace.” They touched on a lot of other related topics, but never this one and it’s the first time I’ve ever come across it this way. I’ve always believed that the more grateful you are for every little thing you’re blessed with, the more you’re likely to be blessed with in the future. Very enlightening post! Thanks for sharing.

    • Thank you Mark, I appreciate your comment and your experience as well. I’ve also noticed that world peace was something that was taught and prayed for alot, but you rarely hear anyone praying for that anymore either. Unless they have some really old Christmas cards laying around. I think it will turn around again as I believe there is a shift right now that will make people more aware and more in touch with their hearts and a little less out of their minds again. Be blissfully Blessed, Mark. thank you again.
